Gurpreet Thinks Of Third Year Placement Options
I always intended in taking a placement year at University whilst studying my course. Placement year is usually the third year into the university academic years, where you take the year out and work for a company/industry/business being paid a fair amount of salary for the year. You then come back to complete final year (fourth year).
There are a lot ofbeneficial outcomes that you gain after the placement is complete. For example, many industries may offer you a job proposal for you to think about after completing graduation, if they are outstanded by the work and attitude you brought into the placement. Another crucial benefit I see is that the placement enhances your experience and knowledge of the real working atmosphere, which I believe is most important in building a career.
…OK next year I will be going out into a placement in the real working atmosphere hopefully for the whole year. I’m quite excited to be honest and can’t wait to experience and face the new challenges. Even though I dont go into a placement until next year (Summer 2009), we still have to submit our placement forms by the beginning of September. Without submitting it in University Of Portsmouth wont provide a login username and password for you to check the available vacancies for placement students in the year 2009. I’ve managed to hand in my placement form finally after a few difficulties with the post playing up. But It’s done :D). Now I’ve piled the stress of figuring out which companies I find suitable for myself to do a placement in then reduce my choice down to 3 main ones, which is hard as there are so many employers to chose from and I have to make a choice of one as soon as possible.
